Heading West

We had a week of vacation after Christmas, so we decided to head to Grand Targhee, Wyoming for some skiing/snowboarding with the kiddos.  When Mike and I lived in Idaho, Targhee had always been our favorite ski resort, but we hadn't been back in 8 years.  We also hadn't been back to Pocatello, Idaho since we moved away in January 2005.  It was high time we made a visit!

We headed out through western North Dakota.

We spent a night in Bozeman, Montana on the way.  The kiddos built forts in the hotel room the next morning while they waited for the pool to open.
 Heading south from Bozeman.

More snow in the Big Sky/West Yellowstone area!

Dane along the Gallatin River.

Almost to Targhee- Driggs, Idaho.

When we arrived at Targhee, this was the view from our room, with beautiful snow lightly falling.

Grand Targhee Village

We took Nora and Dane to ski school for two days, mostly so that Mike and I could really take full advantage of mountain skiing again!

We were so happy for bluebird skies with a beautiful view of the backside of the Tetons.

Looking back at our first run.  If you look carefully, you can see the chairlift at the very top.

At the end of our days, we would make a couple of runs with Dane and Nora after their ski lessons.  They both became little pros!

We spent our last day skiing together.

It was very cold the last day which caused some beautiful sun dogs.

We ate dinner slopeside New Year's Eve and enjoyed some fireworks.

Dane tried to stay awake to ring in 2013.  He didn't quite make it, and neither did we!

We had lots of beautiful new snow our last day, so Mike and I took turns making some final powder runs while the other skied with the kiddos.

We had some ugly winter driving and icy roads on the way home, but we made it safely.
We left Targhee for a day to visit our old friends in Pocatello, Idaho.  It was so fun to catch up, but I didn't take a single photo!  At least we have the memories!
